Perplexity Computer becomes a desktop resident: tabs, windows, spatial canvas
From the AI digest for 2026-10-05
What happened: Arav: the Perplexity App for Mac (Computer) is live with tabs and separately-windowed sessions — "a spatial canvas for heavy duty multi-tasking" — tasks running next to each other in parallel or on different screens, version 26.37.1, all Mac Computer users. Companion color on the same feed: Computer built a browser flight-simulator prototype in Light effort mode for 97 credits.
What's genuinely new: continuation of the Computer platform push (vertical apps Oct 3–4) — this is the windowing layer: Computer competing to be an ambient desktop surface you leave running, not an app you visit.
Watch: Windows parity; how many parallel sessions it actually sustains (the demo genre has a hype record).
