TypeSafe closes $870M at $7.5B — the decision-model category gets its mega-round
From the AI digest for 2026-10-09
What happened: TypeSafe (the Jev decision-model maker) raised $870M at a $7.5B valuation (SiliconANGLE, Oct 9). Same-window category deltas: Liquid AI opened the weights on d1-3B and d1-omni-600M — multimodal, "zero output tokens" (HF blog Oct 7: "Multimodal open d1 decision models for the edge"); OpenAI's Decisions API entered public beta with a claimed 10× faster typed answers at $0.10/1M input (marktechpost, Oct 9 — single syndicated source); and eval-adjacent: Arena closed a $200M Series B at $3.1B (unite.ai, Oct 8).
What's genuinely new: capital markets are pricing the category — TypeSafe's round is an order of magnitude above the eval vendor's round and bigger than several frontier labs' early rounds. Since the Sep 30 Cloudflare table and Oct 6 pplx-decider v1.1 ($0.02/M), pricing pressure is real, which is presumably what the mega-round is for. Caveats unchanged: still no independent runner for Jev vs AnyJev vs d1 vs Decisions API vs pplx-decider vs Clef; TypeSafe itself is closed-source with the API as the product.
Watch: the runner comparison; whether TypeSafe spends the round on open models or distribution; Decisions API beta details at a second source.
