China's robot-training-data lane: a named Beijing facility, a higher pay ceiling
From the Robots digest for 2026-10-18
What happened: Two same-morning items (both ~4:46 AM ET Oct 18, 2026). Global Times reports Chinese robotics firms racing to roll out components and data systems, centered on the Humanoid Robot Data Training Center in Beijing's western Shijingshan District, where dozens of robots were photographed. Separately, MSN Money syndication reports Chinese robot trainers — people performing household chores to teach humanoids — can earn up to ₹85,000 a month (roughly $1,000 USD), above the 4,000–6,000 yuan range (topping out near $900 at the prior outlet's conversion) recorded Oct 15.
What's genuinely new: A named physical mainland-China training facility in the lane, and an upgraded top-of-market pay figure. This is a development of the "robots — Humanoid learning-data collection: the data-factory lane" thread (opened Oct 15–16), which already holds the Oct 15 pay-rate datapoint and the J-HRTI Kanto facility in Japan; the component-and-data-systems angle also lands adjacent to the "robots — China industrial shift" thread.
Watch: Who operates the Shijingshan center and which humanoids train there; whether the ₹85,000 figure is a verified tier or headline rounding; the facility's scale against the lane's other sites.
