Rosatom eyes a 2027 construction start for Uzbekistan's large reactors

From the Energy digest for 2026-10-23

Continuing thread: newgen — Rosatom export push: Tanzania (Mkuju River)

What happened: Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said during a visit to the construction site of Uzbekistan's planned power plant that construction of the large-scale nuclear units there is planned to launch in 2027 (World Nuclear News, Oct 23, ~7:59 AM ET).

What's genuinely new: a dated build-start plan for large reactors in Uzbekistan — a Central Asian build joining an export push that until now ran through Tanzania's mining-and-workforce lane (Oct 11) and the Oct 19 floating-plant agreement for Indonesia. Plan-stage, not ground broken.

Watch: whether construction actually launches in 2027, and unit, capacity, and contract specifics.
