GXO and Agility Robotics send Digit humanoids to two more US states — and name a demand pipeline
From the Robots digest for Oct 26, 2026
What happened: GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics announced on October 26 an expanded partnership that carries Digit humanoids to additional GXO sites in Statesville, NC, and Lebanon, TN, with deployments expected to begin in early 2027 (Business Insider Markets; Agility Robotics on X). The expansion builds on an existing agreement the companies bill as the industry's first Robots-as-a-Service deployment, with a cumulative figure attached to the original site: more than 100,000 totes moved at Flowery Branch, GA. In the same announcement, Agility detailed three previously unannounced enterprise manufacturing customers and an active pipeline of more than 30 prospective customers across manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, defense, logistics and consumer products, with CEO Peggy Johnson discussing the company's commercial progress at 12 p.m. ET on October 26 (Agility Robotics on X; The Robot Report). Forbes, which Agility relayed from its own account (Agility Robotics on X), frames the repeat business as the signal that matters in humanoid robotics — GXO was the first company to put Digit to work and is now coming back for more. The coverage also keeps the open cost question visible: Martín Cid reports the two new warehouses are being added before Digit has paid off in returns.
What's genuinely new: two named expansion sites (Statesville, NC and Lebanon, TN), a dated start (early 2027), the first cumulative output figure for Digit's existing GXO deployment — 100,000-plus totes at Flowery Branch, GA — and a quantified demand pipeline: three newly named enterprise manufacturing customers and more than 30 prospects across six sectors.
Watch: whether the early-2027 start holds, unit counts and task scope at the new sites, when the 30-plus pipeline converts into named deployments, and how the deployed fleet lines up with Agility's filed projection of roughly 800 Digit v5 units in 2027 as its SPAC close sits dated November 2.
