Rocket Lab's first Neutron hardware at the dock: thrust module loads at Middle River for the Wallops barge

Space

From the Space digest for Oct 26, 2026

Continuing thread: space — Rocket Lab × Iridium: the ~$8B combination

What happened: NASASpaceflight relays from the Rocket Lab Space Structures Complex in Middle River, Maryland, on October 26: Neutron hardware was spotted at the site's lagoon "for the first time," staged for shipment to Wallops with no tug and barge yet in sight (~8:22 AM ET); later (~10:40 AM ET) the tug Bernardo arrived pushing a NorthStar barge, and crews began loading what appears to be the Neutron thrust module for the trip.

What's genuinely new: the first sighting of Neutron hardware at the Middle River dock and the physical loading for barge shipment to Wallops Island — vehicle hardware now on the move toward the launch site, following the October 21 report that the Neutron Stage 2 tank assembly was wrapped for barge shipment to Wallops, where its fluid systems would be tested and its Archimedes vacuum engine installed.

Watch: the barge's departure and Wallops arrival, the integration steps ahead of the Q1 2027 first-flight gate, and the November 9, 2026 third-quarter results print against the Neutron-slip repricing.
