Proxima Fusion signs two Japanese supply-chain partnerships
From the Energy digest for Oct 28, 2026
What happened: Proxima Fusion, the German stellarator startup, announced partnerships on October 28, 2026 with Japan's Fujikura and Kyoto Fusioneering covering superconducting tape manufacturing, plasma heating and fuel, framed as strengthening Germany's fusion supply chain (tech.eu).
What's genuinely new: the fusion supply-chain layer crosses regions — a European reactor developer pulling in Japanese suppliers for a German program. For Kyoto Fusioneering it is a second international tie announced this month, after the partnership with the DIII-D fusion facility in the US reported on October 15.
Watch: what the agreements actually bind — MoU-style intent versus firm supply contracts — plus superconducting-tape volumes, delivery dates, and which part of Proxima's stellarator program each supplier feeds.
