Cernavoda units stay offline as Danube water levels hold a restart decision

Energy

From the Energy digest for Oct 30, 2026

New thread

What happened: Units at Romania's Cernavoda nuclear power plant remain shut down because of Danube river water levels. Romania's Nuclearelectrica says that although there has been a recent rise in the local water level, current forecasts do not yet support a decision to restart the units.

What's genuinely new: An operator confirming its reactors are idle over river levels โ€” even with the local level now rising โ€” and no restart decision on the table yet.

Watch: Danube forecasts, the restart decision, and what the outage does to Romania's power supply.
