Tesla reportedly plans to open Optimus customer reservations in December

What happened: A San Francisco Standard report says Tesla is planning to open customer reservations for the Optimus humanoid in December 2026 — a first named month for a step in which buyers outside Tesla's own facilities can commit to the robot. The company has not confirmed the plan in the reporting.

What's genuinely new: a reported reservation date on top of the outline already stated — consumer sales targeted for 2027 and external deliveries around late 2027. It is a single-outlet report with no Tesla statement behind it.

Watch: a Tesla confirmation or denial of a December reservation opening, deposit amounts and terms if it happens, and how the step squares with the earlier reporting that the hands, durability and AI still need work before external deliveries.
