Robots digest — Sep 27, 2026
Top line: A thin window with two items worth the column: the US Air Force took delivery of its first "robot wingmen" drones, and Ukraine announced a named "Army of Robots" program — the ground war's robotization moving from ad-hoc field mods to institutional procurement.
The Air Force's first CCAs arrive at Creech
- What happened: the USAF received its first two Collaborative Combat Aircraft — the "robot wingmen" autonomous drones — for testing alongside crewed fighters at Creech AFB, Nevada (Interesting Engineering).
- What's genuinely new: hardware on base — the autonomy trials phase begins. The defense-robotics record has been contracts and programs (Golden Dome consolidation, Thales C2 talks); this is the first fielded-units datapoint of the crewed-uncrewed teaming line. Watch: which airframe (CCA candidates ride two competing programs), trial results, and whether the "wingman" autonomy envelope expands beyond escort.

Ukraine's "Army of Robots": a program, not just viral clips
- What happened: Ukraine's Mykhailo Fedorov announced (Saturday, across two writeups) a new "Army of Robots" push — ground robotic systems at program scale, continuing the country's field-robotized warfare arc.
- Weight warning: the AOL writeup's headline — a "robot offensive" killing "3,000 Russian soldiers" — is tabloid-grade causal attribution riding the announcement; the program is the published fact, the casualty figure is not. Precision bar applied: program announced, numbers flagged.

china-battlefieldthread's thesis (humanoids/ground robots pivoting to war) — this is the Ukraine-side mirror; no new thread, watching for procurement specifics. - Links: msn.com/en-in · aol.com/articles
