2026-10-15 (ai-social window, ~3:15 AM ET, Musk RT of Alex Prompter — x.com/elonmusk): the launch record's first per-hour pricing datapoint — "Grok can now be your $18/hour receptionist. It costs $4.80 an hour," with "answers your business calls in under a second" and a 7-prompt setup recipe for the Voice Agent Builder — the first in-capture general-business-availability framing for the builder beyond the launch-day "same model that powers voice in Grok @bot, Grok in @Tesla, and @Starlink customer support" line. Single-source prompt-farming post relayed by Musk: no official pricing page, no deployment receipt; launch-day "costs less than other frontier models" remains the only operator-side pricing language on file. Watch: official $4.80/hr confirmation or its contradiction, the Voice Agent Builder in an xAI or SpaceXSI changelog.
2026-10-14 (launch day, Musk-channel relay): Andrew Milich (~1:05 PM ET — x.com/elonmusk): "Grok Voice 3.0 launches today, our frontier speech-to-speech model" — "the world's most intelligent speech-to-speech model," "responds in under a second," "costs less than other frontier models," attributed to Space X Super Intelligence (SpaceXSI). Parker Conrad (~1:24 PM ET — x.com/elonmusk): "the same model that powers voice in Grok @bot, Grok in @Tesla, and @Starlink customer support. Now available to everyone!" Deployment metrics via Sawyer Merritt (~1:11 PM ET — x.com/elonmusk): Starlink call centers answer 20,000 calls/day on Grok Voice, ~70% resolved with no human in the loop, one in four sales calls ends in a purchase, and it "handles millions of convos a day in Tesla vehicles." Debuting #1 on the Artificial Analysis Speech to Speech Index at 86.9 (x.com/elonmusk); Eric Jiang — one of the fastest-growing API segments, companies switching from ElevenLabs (x.com/elonmusk). All vendor/relay claims; no model card, and inconsistent Space X vs SpaceXAI attribution in the reporting.
Background
The thread: the record's first speech-to-speech model launch — Grok Voice 3.0 under the "SpaceX Super Intelligence" (SpaceXSI) banner, its deployment metrics, third-party ranking, and the open question of why a frontier-model debut ships under SpaceX branding.
