2026-11-05 Danish molten salt reactor developer Copenhagen Atomics signed a memorandum of understanding with Urenco for a dedicated UF6-to-UF4 uranium deconversion line at the company's fuel facility in Copenhagen — Urenco helping design the facility, Copenhagen Atomics converting enriched UF6 into UF4 and synthesising high-purity fuel salts for its own reactors and for sale to other commercial molten salt reactor developers and research institutions (World Nuclear News). The company calls the deconversion line the final missing piece in what it describes as the world's first tonne-scale molten salt fuel-salt production facility; it is developing a containerized 100 MWt reactor moderated by unpressurized heavy water, with a first test reactor expected at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland and commercial deployment targeted in the early 2030s. Urenco signed a similar MOU with MSR developer Thorizon in October 2026. Watch: the MOU hardening into contract, construction and first UF4 production, and other MSR developers buying fuel salts.
