VoidZero's tsrs: a Rust port of the TypeScript compiler
Where it stands: VoidZero has introduced tsrs, a Rust port of the TypeScript compiler that it says is not a fork and is being built with the TypeScript team's cooperation. It claims up to 8x faster performance than TS 7.0 with about 70% less memory, browser and Workers support through WASM, and eventual inclusion in Oxc. OpenClaw moved over the weekend with a drop-in switch and roughly 5x speedup; watch for independent builds confirming the gains and the TypeScript team's account of the collaboration.

- 2026-10-20 (~11:47 AM ET — x.com/steipete): VoidZero introduced tsrs, "a Rust port of the TypeScript compiler" — "We are not forking TypeScript!", close collaboration with the TypeScript team, up to 8x faster than TS 7.0 with ~70% less memory, runs in WASM (browser/Workers), soon part of Oxc. Same day, steipete reports OpenClaw moved over the weekend: drop-in, ~5x faster for OC, framed against Microsoft's team-and-two-years Go rewrite of the TypeScript compiler. Vendor benchmarks and a single-user experience report, neither independently verified yet. Watch: independent builds confirming the delta, the TypeScript team's characterization of the collaboration, and whether the "agent did in weeks what a team did in two years" framing gets replicated.
