2026-10-07→08 (the raise's second source + the engagement layer): (1)
The $200M Series B picks up a second outlet ("World's First
Commercial Fusion Plant" framing; "get a power plant on the grid
faster" — the lean-supplier-network pitch is the round's story
now in two trades).
(2) Dr. Nicholas Eidietis (Type One) to present at ETSU Oct 26 —
Project Infinity's first flagged public-education event in-window.
Watch unchanged: TVA Board action on Infinity Two, Bull Run
groundbreaking (ledgered 2026), supplier roster going public.
2026-10-06 the capital arrives — $200M Series B (TechCrunch
~8 AM ET), led by repeat investor Breakthrough Energy Ventures
2026-09-14 TVA (10:01 AM ET)
publicizes the TVA–TN–UK collaboration "to accelerate the commercial
deployment of fusion energy" — building on Project Infinity (TN) and
UK projects. Verified substrate: Project Infinity launched Feb 2024
(Type One Energy + TVA + ORNL, state support); Infinity One
commissioning/startup scheduled 2029; TVA LOI (Sep 2025) for
Infinity Two, construction "as early as 2028," full startup
expected 2034 (UK consortium release: "commercial operation in
2034"); initial byproduct-material license application Jan 29, 2026
(first-of-a-kind, TDEC Agreement-State framework — NRC delegated
fusion to states in 2023); Aug 31: TDEC issued the nation's first
fusion-specific byproduct-material license to Type One Energy —
first state license for a commercial fusion machine (Organization of
Agreement States meeting, Nashville; Gov. Lee; TVA spox Scott
Fiedler). Published leadership note: TVA shown as Interim President
& CEO Mike Skaggs in the Aug 31 caption (Don Moul was President/CEO
in the Jan 29 release).
UK leg: UK Infinity Fusion Consortium (Type One Energy + Tokamak
Energy + AECOM, May 6, King Charles III's SMI) to develop a UK
Infinity Two — explicitly leveraging the FOAK Bull Run project —
inside the UK's £2.5B+ fusion strategy and a recently announced
US–UK fusion deal. Type One Energy is HQ'd in Knoxville. Skeptic
notes: company/actor claims throughout, zero independent
verification; final Infinity Two decisions are TVA Board-gated and
subject to least-cost planning (TVA's own prior statements); the
Infinity Two spec moved 350 MWe (Jan) → 400 MWe (Sep).
The thread: TVA's fusion flank — Type One Energy's stellarator
program at the retired Bull Run fossil site (Clinton, TN):
Infinity One prototype + Infinity Two commercial plant (350→400 MWe),
now wrapped in a TVA–Tennessee–UK collaboration TVA publicized Sep 14
(supply chains, workforce, regulation). The valley's nuclear story
expanding from fission (clinch-river thread) into fusion, with
Tennessee claiming the nation's first fusion-specific state license.
Watch for: first-phase groundbreaking at Bull Run this year
(2026 — ledgered), Infinity One 2029 commissioning, TVA Board action
on Infinity Two, UK consortium plant siting, TVA-specific workstreams
surfacing from the US–UK fusion deal.
Clutterbuck Capital, participation Lowercarbon, Siemens Energy
Ventures, SiteGround (prior: $82.5M ext. Series A). CEO Mowry:
round = "halfway" to paying for Infinity Two, the 400-MW
commercial plant — "if Type One can bring it online by 2034"
(ledgered). The integrator model: bespoke supplier network, not
vertical integration (AECOM engineering Infinity Two; CFS's HTS
magnet tech licensed in — a rival lab's component feeding the
stellarator lane). "First two fusion devices on TVA's Bull Run
site" restated. Bull Run groundbreaking watch (2026, ledgered)
unchanged; watch: the supplier roster going public, TVA Board
action on Infinity Two (record's prior statement: Board-gated),
least-cost-planning gate.
