What happened: X-energy, Alleima and Doosan Enerbility announced the first procurement of steam generator tubing for X-energy's Xe-100 small modular reactor: Sweden's Alleima will manufacture specialized stainless steel tubing from high-temperature alloys, and South Korea's Doosan Enerbility will bend the tubes into helical coils — a central component of a steam generator producing steam up to 565°C, letting one Xe-100 deliver both electricity and industrial process heat.

What's genuinely new: The tubing is safety-significant and a long-lead component for the first Xe-100 deployment, a proposed four-unit plant with Dow in Texas under the Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program. Coil fabrication follows a December 2025 agreement reserving Doosan capacity for 16 sets of Xe-100 pressure vessels, itself built on technical work begun in 2021. X-energy (Nasdaq: XE) says the order de-risks the long-lead supply chain across a commercial portfolio of more than 11 GW, including projects with Amazon, Energy Northwest, AEP and Centrica in the US and Centrica in the UK.

Watch: first coil-set deliveries, the Dow Texas project's licensing and construction progress, further long-lead orders from the Xe-100 supplier coalition.
