2026-11-06 — headlined Boston Dynamics Stretch — Boston Dynamics unveiled Stretch Gen 2, the second generation of its autonomous trailer-unloading robot, after more than 100,000 operating hours and tens of millions of boxes handled (The Robot Report). VP and GM of logistics robotics Brian Donnelly says the version took about two and a half years and focuses on simplification, hardening and service: up to 1,000 cases per hour depending on case weight and stack order; a multipick gripper with a valve and sensor in every suction cup; a two-shift battery with 90% charge in about 75 minutes; 81% fewer internal cables (about half a mile); automotive-grade connectors and a cable harness sourced through Hyundai's supply chain; continuous-rotation joints past 360°; onboard lighting; pre-trained vision needing no programming; a swerve-drive swap in an hour against a day before; onboard diagnostics for customer-side routine service. It runs on a redesigned onboard computer with monthly software updates — the latest lifted the deployed fleet's unload rate 24% — and is already running at multiple customer sites. Watch: named customers and deployment counts, verified uptime, and the software-gain cadence.
